Naked Bull was started in 2017 by Geza Szucs and Kristine Lange, owners of Kala Ranch following a recall of Chinese imported chicken jerky for dogs. Before the recall was over, this jerky had killed over 760 dogs in Canada. In fact it was the same jerky they were giving to their beloved dog, Bailey. Following a deep dive into the pet food and treat industry, they discovered Canada did not have any legislation protecting pets and that any toxic ingredients, chemicals, dyes, fillers like sawdust and soy, and artificial flavours were not only allowed but proliferated.
Kristine experimented with some of their own grass fed beef and developed a single ingredient jerky for pets, the first of its kind, without any preservatives, salt, nitrates, dyes, chemical flavours or smoke. The popularity of it exploded! So much, that many other vendors have copied and cashed in on Naked Bull’s idea. However, they have never been able to duplicate the beef that Kala Ranch raises. Dog Handlers and Agility Trainers have stated that with Naked Bull jerky, they can get the dogs to do anything! After the success of their jerky, the general public started asking for more healthy options for pet food and treats and demand continues to grow. Owners continually share how the switch to a raw diet has changed their pets’ lives. Under the personal guidance of raw pet food experts and their vet, Naked Bull provides raw pet food, a cooked variety for those pets with sensitive stomachs, and raw, smoked and dehydrated pet treats. Kristine still perseveres in developing one of a kind pet treats and food supplements. Product ingredients are still sourced from Kala Ranch and like minded neighbouring farms and ranches who produce livestock without the use of hormones or steroids. Kala Ranch continues to provide top quality Black Angus genetics for breeding, beef for the market and pet food/treats.
